As chief operations officer at Consumers Credit Union, Scott Sylvester coordinates a broad range of strategic and operational activities to achieve the credit union’s objectives. Most recent initiatives have been the upgrade of Consumers’ Online Banking platform, construction of the organization’s new 92,000-square-foot headquarters and the credit union’s continued growth in Grand Rapids and other new markets.

The Michigan State University graduate joined the credit union as a teller in 1994, then quickly moved into accounting and later was promoted to manager of information systems, where he guided Consumers through the technology boom in the late ‘90s and compliance changes in 2000. Scott was later promoted to vice president of technology and was instrumental in relocating Consumers’ corporate office and IT facilities in 2002. He eventually became the chief financial and technology officer in charge of accounting and IT, and lead the organization’s transition to a new core banking system for credit unions in 2009, as Consumers became the first to partner with this innovative new vendor.

Additionally, Scott has been involved with all of the credit union’s facilities upgrades, whether new construction or office remodels, and continues to play a key role in leading Consumers’ digital and mobile transformation since being named chief operations officer in 2011.

Scott and his wife Lisa have three children live just west of Kalamazoo. He’s been a Mattawan School Board member since 2012 and currently serves as president of the board.
