The Callie Zipple Spirit of HR Award

MISHRM HR Games Competition Collegiality Award

Callie Zipple, SHRM-SCP
August 23, 1987 - September 12, 2019

Callie joined SHRM in 2017 after having served in various volunteer roles, including College Relations Director and Social Media Director for the Wisconsin SHRM State Council. She also served on the Young Professional Advisory Council, with a focus on social media for National SHRM. As an undergraduate at St. Norbert College, she served as the SHRM Student Chapter President for her college’s student chapter.

Callie was excited about her career in Human Resources (HR) where she worked as a Field Services Director at the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Callie played an integral role in building the podcast "Honest HR" from the ground floor. She provided insight and direction for young professionals in the HR field and was excited about the next step. Prior to joining SHRM, Callie had many years of HR experience with third-party staffing, manufacturing, travel management, technology and sports data industries. She served in various roles, including recruitment, HR operations, and compensation and benefits.

Callie earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources and Leadership from St. Norbert College in DePere, WI. She also studied abroad at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia.

Callie was dedicated to the advancement of students and to the field of HR. She served as the keynote speaker for the 2018 MISHRM HR Games competition, where students left inspired and energized to accomplish great things in the field. To honor her memory, MISHRM created the Callie Zipple Spirit of HR Award in 2019. The team that exemplified collegiality, professionalism, a positive attitude, and respect for fellow competitors and volunteers during that competition was Eastern Michigan University. In 2020, the MISHRM hosted a fully-virtual conference, but in 2022, HR Games came back, and the University of Michigan-Flint student chapter was honored with the Callie Zipple Spirit Award, MISHRM will annually award this honor to a student chapter. What makes this award special is that YOU (HR Games student team members and all HR Games volunteers) make the selection!

MISHRM's mission is to support the State SHRM chapters and serve the HR professionals (networking, development opportunities, best practice sharing) and serve as a conduit from our great state to SHRM.
